Asbestos

“We contacted Spettro for advice on removal of asbestos in our home. We were concerned that it might affect our health. After a visit from our local Spettro representative we discovered that there are many different types of asbestos and ours was not as dangerous as some can be. Spettro organised for its removal and now we feel much happier. We would recommend Spettro to anyone who had a similar issue as they quite simply know what they are talking about!”

If the property has been affected by fire, flood, or has storm related structural damage, there is a legal obligation to assume asbestos containing materials are present, unless specific information and proof exists to the contrary.

As of June 2007 when selling your home you must produce a Home Information Pack included in this will be any fire or flood event and conversion or renovation work. Proof will be required that the building renovation and restoration was completed properly and any asbestos contamination has been properly addressed.

Spettro offer a Professional Asbestos Management and Disaster Restoration Service, and will implement an Asbestos Management Program, which can provide the Complete Resolution to asbestos related problems. Providing surveys, sample analysis and decontamination supervision.

Asbestos is practically indestructible, and once airborne its tiny fibres are capable of causing lung cancer.

The death rate from asbestos is 3,500+ a year and rising.

Asbestos is now considered so dangerous, that working with it is subject to criminal law.

Asbestos is found in:

  • Floors
  • Vinyl floor tiles
  • Artex plaster
  • Bath panels
  • Pipe lagging
  • Insulation boards (tank/water cupboards)
  • Corrugated & felt roofing
